The winner of the CNU 17 video contest is ... Phenomenal!!

Three-minute film makes the humorous-but-convincing case that "cul de sacs" threaten life on Earth — watch it now

We have a winner in our CNU 17 video contest and we believe you'll agree it's a good one.

The 3-minute video asks the question “What’s the greatest threat to our planet?” and shows how reimagining our cities and suburbs to be sustainable and walkable will cut carbon emissions, commutes and calories. "When it comes to saving the planet, what we build is the greatest threat…or the greatest hope," say the filmmakers in Built to Last.

Built to Last made me laugh out loud,” said John Norquist, president and CEO of the Congress for the New Urbanism, which offered the submitter of the winning entry a complimentary registration to this year's leading gathering of urbanists,CNU 17, which runs June 10-14th in Denver. “But this video is serious too. First + Main and Paget Films show how New Urbanism is the convenient remedy, providing quality of life and economic value while protecting the environment.” Yes, the agenda of CNU 17 in a nutshell.

"We're always looking to work with organizations and companies doing good, culturally transforming things, and have been following CNU for many years,” said Chris Elisara of First + Main Media. “We've wanted to bring our skill and talents to the movement, so this gave us a good opportunity to do so.”

The film will be shown before a plenary audience in Denver, but don't wait. Watch it ,embed it on your site and help CNU 17 go viral.

Don't stress: You now have six more days — till May 14th — to register for cnu 17 at great early bird rates

If you haven't registered yet, there's time to save on all that cnu 17 offers, including the 102 sessions and tours approved for AICP credits and 27 approved by AIA

CNU appreciates everyone who has already registered and taken advantage of special early rates. But with more content going up all week at cnu17.org, the full list of continuing ed credits just now finalized, and the winning CNU video contest winner (and partner promotions) reaching many new eyeballs, we knew people would appreciate a few more days to learn about the Congress and register at the best-possible rates. So we're extending the early registration deadline to Thursday May 14th at 11:59 p.m. EST.

If you're an individual professional member, registering now will save you $80. For the full package (including party and three ticketed events including 202s, tours, and Experiences), your amount saved is $120. Elected officials, non-profit employees, international attendees, and students save considerably too.

This gives you more time to view the full list of sessions, tours and experiences approved for continuing education credits. There's also time to learn how the program can help make you better at what you do, whether the topic is retrofitting sprawl, urbanism for a green recovery, sustainable transportation networks, code reform, or innovative housing design. Don't forget the Saturday Night Party & Salons, Sunday tour of Prospect and Rockies game, also on Sunday.

The extension also means there's time to tell a friend or colleague about this top event from the leading international organization promoting walkable neighborhood-based development as an alternative to sprawl. Just forward this message, including the link to the best New Urbanism video in years.

Of course, the best way to lock in these great rates is to register immediately
