Existing home sales in the suburban counties around Detroit decreased by as much as 30% while sales went up in the city by 8%. The Michigan Association of Realtors tracked sales of existing homes in Metro Detroit from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30, 2006 and found an average decline of 14% compared with the same period in 2005.
