CNU is excited to announce its fourth chapter, CNU Illinois! The chapter most recently held two successful events to feed Illinoisans' hunger for New Urbanism.
On March 1, it hosted a Charter Signing
event, which included a cocktail hour as well as presentations. Those in
attendance not only got the first glimpse and chance to sign the CNU Illinois
Charter, but also had the opportunity to hear from John Norquist on New Urbanist
Transportation, Ray Gindroz on Rebuilding Lost New Orleans, Sam Sherman on
Philadelphia's Exploding Market, and Emily Talen and Neal Payton on Housing
Affordability. Learn more about the event and download audio clips of several
of the presentations at
http://cnu.org/node/887.
On April 3, University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign student group The New Urbanism Discourse (led by CNU Illinois
board member Andrew Pierson), hosted an event in conjunction with the School
of Architecture Lecture Series. Students, faculty, and professionals alike came
together on the Illinois campus to hear the views of social critic and author
Jim Kunstler. The event was an extreme success and led to vibrant discussions
amongst those in attendance afterwards.
CNU members may join the Illinois Chapter online at http://www.cnu.org/join.
