John R. Oishei Foundation Issues $100k Challenge Grant for CNU22

The Congress for the New Urbanism is pleased to announce that the John R. Oishei Foundation has authorized a grant of $200,000 to the Congress for the New Urbanism in support of the organization’s 22nd annual Congress, CNU 22: The Resilient Community, taking place June 4-7 in Buffalo, New York. The foundation was impressed with the rich program being developed for the event, which will bring expertise from around the world to Buffalo including famed architect Robert A.M. Stern; Washington, DC Planning Director Harriet Tregoning and her counterpart Jennifer Keesmaat with the City of Toronto; Enrique Peñalosa, the former Mayor of Bogota; and many, many others. It is their hope and expectation that CNU 22 will provide fresh perspectives on Buffalo’s urban challenges by stimulating discussions that lead to practical, positive solutions.

The Foundation’s support is as follows: $100,000 as a grant and an additional $100,000 as a 1:1 Challenge Grant to encourage fundraising efforts for the Congress. This means, should you choose to support CNU 22, your contribution will be 100% matched by the Oishei Foundation, and you will be credited as having given the total amount.

The John R. Oishei Foundation strives to be a catalyst for change to enhance economic vitality and quality of life for the Buffalo Niagara region through grantmaking, leadership and network building. The Foundation was established in 1940 by John R. Oishei, founder of Trico Products Corporation.
