After years of apathy and exclusion in the planning of developments, a recently elected Board Supervisor in Chesterfield County, VA is pushing for increased community participation while halting excessive growth. By exposing the unpreparedness of local developers, Marleen Durfee is leading the charge to densify the region. As she enters office, a major New Urbanist project, Roseland, a 5,000 home mixed-use development, may provide hope to a region struggling to control growth.
