NPR ran a great two-part report on the impact of driving on climate change. The first part covers the heavy cost of suburban transportation in Atlanta, while the second part covers the benefits of living in an urban community in Atlanta using new urbanist Atlantic Station as an example.

Part 1: Life in the 'Burbs: Heavy Costs for Families, Climate, March 31, 2008

Part 2: Atlanta Family Slashes Carbon Footprint, April 1, 2008

"Early surveys show the people who live and work in Atlantic Station drive about a third that much, according to the Environmental Protection Agency."
