Historic Fairview Village Proudly Celebrates its 90th Anniversary!

CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY- Fairview Main Street is proud to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the groundbreaking of our neighborhood on Tuesday May 20th 2008.
Fairview Village, originally known as Yorkship Village, is the first federally funded planned community in the country and is America’s most fully realized English Garden Village. Designed and built in 1918 to house ship workers at the nearby New York Shipbuilding Company on Camden New Jersey’s waterfront, Fairview is designed as a walking village with meandering streets and unique vistas where churches, schools, community centers, and businesses are all in close walking distance from one another.
Fairview Main Street looks forward to honoring this milestone with several events throughout the next year beginning with The 2nd Annual Historic Fairview 5K Run and Walk on Saturday May 24, 2008 and culminating with a Gala in May 2009.
