CRA/LA, Largest Redevelopment Agency in the Nation, Goes “Green”
According to a recent release on their website, the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles (CRA/LA), has decided to move forward with its ambitious Healthy Neighborhoods Policy. The new policy, the largest of its kind in any major U.S. city, includes free environmental consulting for new and rehabilitated projects within the CRA/LA project areas. According to Cecilia V. Estolano, Chief Executive Officer of CRA/LA, the mission of the policy “stretches beyond individual projects and buildings and includes healthy, livable neighborhoods for the residents of our project areas and their children.” The ordinance requires all buildings greater than 50,000 square feet and/or consisting of 50 residential units or more to be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.
