10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania, an organization promoting smart growth policies and development in the state, has announced the winner of its 2009 Charter Awards. Design firm Looney Ricks Kiss's Florin Hill neighborhood won the gold prize. From 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania's website:
Florin Hill is a mixed-use community with a variety of housing options, including affordable housing, to meet the needs of all residents. With a total size of 483 housing units and 75,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, Florin Hill stood out among all of this year’s entries as a bold and ambitious smart growth project.
