The Adaptation Opportunity
I imagine we'll see some serious geoengineering ("options that would involve large-scale engineering of our environment in order to combat or counteract the effects of changes in atmospheric chemistry") proposals soon. Many of us recognize the need to address adaptation at multiple scales and intensities and across geographies, in the face of increasing climate-driven weather events. This demand will help vindicate NU principles, strategies, and actions. As an NU approach, I suggest we champion 1) private and public/private interventions (e.g., packaged utility/power systems), 2) drop in code remedies (e.g., transect-based ag), and 3) an educational programs that incorporate adaptation as a vehicle for NU policies, codes, and practices.
