PODCAST | Walkable Urban Thoroughfares in State Planning: A Conversation with Illinois DOT
CNU President John Norquist sits down with Bola Delano, Deputy Director for Planning and Programing at the Illinois DOT, to discuss a recent statewide workshop on the Designing Walkable Urban Thoroughfares manual, led by CNU.
In this podcast, learn how the manual might fit the state's long-range transportation plan, which calls for placing a greater focus on bicycles and pedestrians, improving safety and making investments that support economic development.
Norquist and Delano will discuss how Illinois DOT is evolving to meet the growing needs of communities throughout the state, how urban designers can play a continued role and how these issues apply broadly to the U.S. as a whole. In the final 15 minutes, the two will open to questions from web-based participants.
This chat is the first of series on implementing Designing Walkable Urban Thoroughfares, leading up to CNU 21 in Salt Lake City. Bola Delano will be participating in a 202 session at CNU 21.
