The marriage of the terms certification and New Urbanism has been discussed for some time. Now, with rating systems gaining currency in the green building movement, there’s new urgency to the question: Should new urbanist projects be certified? If so, how? Is there potential to join new urbanist and green building certification? Can professional practices be acknowledged as new urbanist? If so, what are the criteria? The audience will be asked to advance the discussion of this important topic.
