100% Sustainable Linear Eco-cities for energy, food and transportation!
Location: USA, world. Everyone has access to arable land, rapid transit and affordable renewable sources of energy!
The 2 major challenges to global populations in the next 60 years are the End of Oil, and therefore food, energy, transportation and jobs, to mention only the most significant, and global climate change. In the age of the Internet and cell phones, do we still need to commute into cities when driving, flying, and oil-powered ships and agriculture may all disappear within the next 60 years?
Can we anticipate this paradigm shift by designing radically different cities, vehicles, ships and food productions systems so that we don't need oil? Please remember that fertilizers and pesticides both also come from oil, and that Iraq is the country with the greatest remaining petroleum reserves (ie. why are we there when the reasons that we gave for going are all disproved?).
This is an issue that will certainly affect ourselves, our children, and children 2,000 years hence. Why not design urban and global infrastructure that is 100% sustainable right now?
Please view my challenge, and suggestions, to all CNU's members on my website at www.greenmillennium.eu
Thank you very much for your interest!
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Kim Gyr
PS. I have developed these designs over the past 28 years in Europe, partly as a professor at the Swiss campus of Pasadena's Art Center College of Design. They were originally provoked when my heart stopped for 10 minutes (!) following a car accident in Kenya, Africa. Faced by the need to relearn how to walk, speak and remember, I staggered, walked and jogged more than 330 miles to recover those abilities, and was struck by our headlong rush to petroleum poverty, and its solutions, as I recovered. For the sake of the components of our genes, which we and our children are also the products of, we must address these problems immediately!
I hope simply that my understanding and designs will provoke all of you to suggest even more brilliant solutions, in time to keep over 7 billion of us alive without petroleum, for the next 2,000 years!
Thank you very much for your consideration!
Read more at this project's website.Lessons learned: 1. Simply that all future construction must not be historically based, but future based, with the provision of the above-mentioned requirements as absolutes. 2. Projects of this kind present the world with the greatest chance for cooperation and unification that we have ever seen, much as Europe and Japan have accomplished since 1945. 3. Our children and great great great great great great great grandchildren will be very grateful if we are successful in this endeavor!
