BAYVIEW RURAL VILLAGE
Location: Bayview, Eastern Shore, VA United States. Affordable housing
This rural village provides affordable replacement housing for the 52 families that lived in an economically declining town. The new community extended new streets from the existing community into adjacent agricultural land and built on traces of the historic settlement pattern. A cooperative farm serves as one component of an economic development strategy. Upon completion, the village will have more than 150 housing units, an outdoor market square, a community center and a childcare center.
