CHONGMING ISLAND MASTER PLAN

The master plan encompasses a regional scale planning and urban design strategy for a 750 square mile island on the Yangtze River in the municipality of Shanghai, China. The sustainable master planning strategy will guide the settlement growth for 800,000 people, while preserving farmlands, establishing wilderness areas, and introducing public transportation to the island.
The plan incorporates six key sustainable themes: Wilderness & Ecosystems, Organic Farming, Green Systems, Transportation, Green Villages, and Coastal Cities.
