CREWKERNE-EASTHAMS ARCHITECTURAL AND DESIGN CODE
Location: Crewkerne, United Kingdom. Historic working market town of 7000
This neighborhood plan defines an extension to Crewkerne, a historic working, market town of 7000. Commissioned by a major house builder in the UK, a planning team explored proposals for a 126-acre site using a charrette process designed to make full use of community knowledge and aspirations. With early plans calling for a highway running through the site and connecting to Crewkerne’s town center, planners convinced the development team to substitute an urban avenue that will serve as the spine of the new neighborhood. The plan calls for a new school, community hall, parks and recreation facilities, and mixed-use development. The plan will be laid out using design codes developed specifically for this project.
