Pass Christian Smart Code
Location: Pass Christian, MS. City devastated by Hurricane Katrina
Pass Christian's oak-lined streets and historic architecture had earned it the name 'Jewel of the Gulf Coast' prior to Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. The storm destroyed 75% of its structures. The vision of its historic architecture, traditional neighborhoods and underlying city structure guided the design of the infill rebuilding plan. This vision is at the core of the Pass Christian SmartCode, which was adopted citywide in April 2007.
