Railroad Avenue Commercial Revitalization Project
Location: Golden Gate Community, Stuart, Florida. Working-Class
The Railroad Avenue Commercial Revitalization project was identified by Golden Gate residents as a targeted area for redevelopment both in the 2002 Golden Gate Redevelopment Plan and the 2010 Neighborhood Opportunity Workshop.
This commercial corridor consists of a dirt roadway which will be reconstructed utilizing Tax Increment Financing and a $700,000 Community Development Block Grant made possible by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
Streetscape improvements will include paving, installation of curbing and sidewalks, landscape, signage, on-street parking, and drainage facilities. The project will provide formalized access to businesses along the corridor, improve safety, and eliminate encroachments onto the Martin County Right of Way and the Federal East Coast Railway Right of Way.
