Located among traditional homes and carriage-houses in the historic Sugar Hill area in Harlem, New York, the Sugar Hill Apartments rises to 7 floors of residential and mixed-use space. The building is comprised of 17 new-construction, market-rate apartments in a mix of 3-, 2- and 1-bedroom units. Each of these units includes balconies or terraces overlooking either the rear landscaped courtyard or 150th Street. The modern, contemporary building design suggests a new Harlem motif and movement towards change. The façade design expresses this through a mix of modern and traditional with the use of glass and metals along with cast stone and masonry. All apartments feature hardwood floors throughout as well as modern kitchens with GE monogram series appliances, granite countertops and frosted glass doors. Bathrooms consist of pedestal sinks, deep soaking tubs, shower enclosures, and are finished in a combination marble tile and Corian. Penthouse units boast beautiful views of the surrounding areas with large living spaces and fireplaces opening to outside decks. The finely detailed residential lobby leads to a grand stair up to a second floor outdoor garden for residents. In addition to the residential lobby and garden, the building will also house a new 2-story medical facility with both a separate street entrance and a lobby entrance.
