West 7th
Location: Fort Worth, Texas, 76107, United States of America. Former abandoned industrial zone between world-famous museum district and revitalized Downtown.
West 7th is the infill redevelopment of approx. six city blocks in Fort Worth's Cultural District near the world-famous Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (designed by Tadao Ando). Property formerly occupied by Acme Brick. All former buildings demolished and new urban form established.
West 7th combines 315,000 square feet of retail, 240,000 square feet of office space, and 345 for-rent residential units. Tenants include a Movie Tavern theater, a Lucky Strike bowling alley, LA Fitness, Paciugo, and many local establishments such as Tillman's Roadhouse, Fort Worth City Market, Fred's Texas Cafe, Backwoods, Ali Baba Mediterranean Grill, and more.
The development places pedestrians at the forefront, with narrow streets, wide sidewalks, a central plaza space, smaller plazas scattered around the property, and mid-block pedestrian passages cutting the rectangular blocks into more easily walkable spaces similar to Downtown Fort Worth's small blocks. All the buildings feature ground-level retail. In addition, an extensive series of balconies, rooftop decks, courtyards, and terraces create an integration between indoor and outdoor for all tenants - retail, office, and residential.
The development is across University Drive from Fort Worth's famous museums - the Modern, the Kimbell, and the Carter, as well as the Will Rogers Memorial Center. It is one of several large mixed-use developments underway along the 7th Street corridor, a formerly abandoned industrial zone between the museums and revitalized Downtown Fort Worth.
The proposed Fort Worth modern streetcar system runs through the heart of the development, linking the destinations on 7th with Downtown and the Near Southside.
