The Williamson
Location: Charlotte, NC. Near Downtown on edge of historic Elizabeth neighborhood
The Williamson, completed in October 2000, is a $2.3 million mixed-use, urban infill development consisting of for-sale residential units and office condos. Located on the edge of the historic Elizabeth neighborhood, near downtown Charlotte, this project uses its 5,000 sf of office space to front a busy traffic thoroughfare (7th Street), then creating a residential streetscape (along Clarice Ave.)for the Elizabeth neighborhood with street-fronting townhouse units complete with individual steps and stoops. This relatively small, 30,000 sf project consists of only 18 flats and townhouses ranging in size from 1,000 to 1,400 sf. The brick exterior, punched windows and white painted trim are references to nearby historic neighborhood multifamily projects and a desired scale for the development. Thirty parking spaces are located to the rear of the site allowing the building to address both streets in an urban and pedestrian fiendly manner.
