Transportation Summit 2008: Sustainable Transportation Networks


Program

For years, designers, planners and engineers in the CNU network have worked to implement new urbanist principles through high quality transportation projects. The Summit is an opportunity to pool our experiences, advance our expertise, and influence the work of the transportation-engineering mainstream.

The 2008 Summit focused on sustainable transportation networks.

Day 1 (Thursday) featured a series of presentations, with an introduction to the CNU network platform, a panel on the upcoming year in federal legislation, an overview of Charlotte, and a series of afternoon tours around the city.

Days 2 and 3 (Friday and Saturday) featured small group work on a range of topics addressing networks and their broader context and application. Subgroup topics explored how the network is defined, measured, and sustained; how the network functions in relation to places and modes; network implementation policies and barriers; and the network and emergency responders.
