According to this Washington Post Editorial, "the silver lining in the spike in gasoline prices is that it has focused the public on the links among global warming, sustainable communities and transportation alternatives." The editorial also mentions the importance of Barack Obama's commitment to reforming the "highway-centric" federal transportation funding.

It is good to see the importance of smart growth and new urbanism registered on one of the most important editorial pages in the country!
