Submitted by Ben Schulman on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 5:03pm
The Chicago-based Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) is the organization that sets the standards for academic institutions that teach planning. PAB recently released a draft of their revised standards for comment, the deadline for such being next Thursday, December 15th.
As CNU-A Continuing Education Provider, the Form Based Codes Institute, noted of PAB's criteria, "the proposed standards do not include a requirement for instruction in physical planning and urban design." The FBCI is leading an effort for all concerned parties to add their comments on the PAB website, focusing on section four, Curriculum and Instruction.
Already, a large contingent of urbanists have weighed in with their comments, requesting a requirement that physical planning instruction be included in the standards for planning curriculum. Voice your support, and add your view of the proposed standards by visiting the PAB site now.
