Looking Back - An Intern's Experience at CNU

As I'm sitting here in my final hours of being a CNU summer intern, awaiting the completion of the file transfer of my work to my own computer (ten minutes remaining), I thought it'd be appropriate for a quick reflection on my summer crash course in urban planning and the New Urbanism.

What isn’t immediately evident when visiting this attractive transit-oriented development is that it is the culmination of a decade of planning that followed several proposed projects that were rejected by the public prior to that.
Making CNU 21 more accessible

As useful as it was, I'm not sure how many hours I want to spend in front of a computer screen trying to keep my attention on a video presentation. I started to wonder: is there a way for people to access CNU panels without spending hours on Youtube?

Author John T. Magill delves into the history of the avenue to show how its construction into a highway opened up the eyes of residents to freeways' devastation on the urban fabric. One resident wrote in 1967: "New Orleans must not become a hell of ugliness, a dead city, like that civic blight on N. Claiborne.
How To Create A "Vertical Suburb"

Norquist: "Don't Wreck Sydney Hih"

The Sydney Hih buildings are located in northern downtown Milwaukee. The buildings were erected in 1876 and later purchased by attorney Sydney Eisenberg, who planned was to create an artist community. Throughout its history, the set of buildings have been home to a multitude of artists.
Nickolai Group is Selected as Exclusive Agent for Woodbury Village, a 130 Acre Transit-Oriented Development Site

Woodbury is a 130 acre site located between to the New York Thruway (I-87,) Conrail, Route 17M, and Averill Avenue. The site is designated as mixed-use; there are plans to include office, retail, and multi-family developments, including a hotel, entertainment venues, community space, and parks and recreation space. A specific portion of the site must remain as vacant land.
